A Gall....before & after....where a wasp injects a eggs into the stalk of a goldenrod plant stem, & as a defensive mechanism the plant encircles the invasive larvae with growth...the brown version (on left) shows a dried one, where the wasp has burrowed out & escaped (hatched). ah, nature at work..!!
