June 25-29, 2007....The week-long IUPUI class, Discovering the Science of the Environment, Summer Professional Institute for Teachers, took place at the Earth Discovery Center at Eagle Creek Park. This very informative & interactive class offered ways that IUPUI & IDNR could help teachers connect their students to the science outside their classroom. It involved a combination of classroom lecture, student activities, technology applications, and on-side data-collection & study.

A Gall....before & after....where a wasp injects a eggs into the stalk of a goldenrod plant stem, & as a defensive mechanism the plant encircles the invasive larvae with growth...the brown version (on left) shows a dried one, where the wasp has burrowed out & escaped (hatched).  ah, nature at work..!!
