2023 Sunset Guided Paddle Program

Sunset Guided Paddle Program

  • 2 hour paddle time on water

  • Instruction & safety talk

  • Leisurely paddle at sunset

  • Explore Eagle Creek reservoir

  • Story-telling & history chats !

  • Kayaks, paddles, pfd's provided

  • Experienced guide (Jeff Coates)

  • Often see wild eagles!

Physical Challenge Thoughts....

  • While Beginners are encouraged to participate in this program, it will involve safely getting in/out of a kayak that is in the water, carrying your kayak to/from the water, & being able to paddle for 2 hours...!!...While we paddle at a leisurely pace, and take several breaks, it can be a good healthy workout, and may be a challenge for some...

Story Telling

  • At the beginning of the Program, Jeff Coates, your experienced paddle guide, will give you easy-to-understand basic paddling/turning/stopping suggestions, as well as how to get in/out of the boat
     

  • During the paddle program, he will also tell lots of stories of the history of Eagle Creek Reservoir, the migratory wildlife, and even tell a joke or two..!!...So stay close to the front, so you can hear all the fun & info..!!
     

  • It's a great relaxing evening, blending being outdoors, on the water, getting some physical exercise, and even learning a few interesting tidbits about this beautiful historic park on the NW side of Indianapolis..!!

  • The marina inside Eagle Creek Park (there is Gate Admission at the 56th Street & 71st Street Park Entrances)

 

Prices

  • $32  Single Kayak

  • $46  Double Kayak

  • No Canoes

  • Gate Admission to Park ($5/vehicle for Marion County residents, $6/vehicle for out-of-county, or $50 annual pass)

 

Tues Evening Schedule (until Sept 1)

  • 5:00pm - Check-In/Gear Check

  • 5:30pm - Required Safety Orientation/Paddle Instructions

  • 6:00pm - Leave Shore

  • 8:00pm - Return to Shore

*times subject to change; based on weather and sunset

 *NOTE: Participants must attend 5:30pm Safety Orientation

  • Online Reservations required (limit 12 boats per evening)

  • Minimum age of 14 years to paddle solo, 6 years with adult

  • Single & Double Kayaks (no canoes this year)
